Strategies and Goals

Professional Development: The AAAG will provide a supportive environment for its members to take advantage of various professional development opportunities. Activities will include leadership in conducting AAAG business, and exposing the AAAG to focused training sessions.

Mentoring: The AAAG will identify opportunities to host minority students and faculty in research laboratories and serve as on site mentors. The AAAG will actively support programs that encourage African Americans to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Recruitment and Workforce Diversity: The AAAG is committed to being an active advocate for increasing the recruitment of African Americans and maintaining a diverse workforce. AAAG members will seek opportunities to attract candidates for fellowship and internship programs in addition to employment positions.

Cultural Awareness: The AAAG will support and organize events and activities that provide opportunities to showcase African Americans in research and technology. In addition, the AAAG will continue to support and participate in programs that promote tolerance and cultural diversity.
